Icons + Altars
Since 1994, Icons + Altars has been a
successful fundraiser and provocative exhibition for the New Art Center
in Newton, Mass. The goal for this innovative project is to both
showcase new work and raise funds for the Center's exhibition and
education programs. Each year around one hundred artists are selected
to participate, with the artists creating works based on their own
interpretation of an icon or altar. The piece may represent a personal,
cultural, or social interpretation of this multi-faceted theme. I have
been a participating artist in this exhibition since 2001.
